I’m into the extreme end of 4WD, do you stock equipment for my vehicle?
At Geelong 4WD & Camping we have 4WD accessories for all levels of four-wheel driving, from soccer mums driving the so-called urban tractors, right through to mud bashers who require extreme 4X4 parts and accessories such as mud-terrain tyres.
I’m heading off around Australia. Will my standard suspension cope with the demands of the trip or do I need to upgrade my suspension and other offroad 4X4 accessories?
It’s always a good idea to have your vehicle checked out by an expert before heading off on extended trips into remote and rugged areas. We’d need to look at your vehicle but would suggest that you’d benefit from fitting Ironman 4WD accessories, which includes tough 4×4 suspension. We don’t have a four-wheel drive but we’re thinking of tackling some of Australia’s Outback routes. Is this a good idea and are there 4WD car accessories that will ensure we don’t get stuck in the middle of nowhere?
No, that doesn’t sound like the greatest idea. If you’re driving on four-wheel drive tracks then you really should be in a four-wheel drive fitted with the appropriate 4×4 parts and accessories. There are off-road accessories you could describe loosely as 4×4 car accessories because they’ll fit a regular car, but we still wouldn’t recommend going bush in the family sedan.
What is the one overall 4WD accessory you’d recommend for off-road vehicles?
That’s a tough one because there’s no one-size-fits-all answer but we’d probably suggest good suspension is at the top of the list. There’s a great number of accessories 4WD enthusiasts can add to their vehicles and everyone has their own opinion about the best 4×4 accessory, but we’d put 4×4 suspension right up there.
